FireJaws – Gospel Hip Hop Artist & Minister

FireJaws is a Gospel hip hop lyricist out of Newark, New Jersey whose music blends
uncompromising street realism with bold Christian faith.

Born in New York City and raised in Newark during the crack era, he was shaped early
by the raw sound of 1980s hip hop, first stepping into rap through beatboxing with
neighborhood friends. The culture caught his ear, but his purpose would come from
somewhere much deeper.

Early Faith & Transformation

As a child, FireJaws was introduced to Christ through a friend’s mother who brought
him to Sunday school before his own family ever attended church.

Though he spent his early adult years running hard in the streets, everything changed
at age 25 when he recommitted his life to God. That decision set him on a new path—one
that eventually led into ministry, where he became an ordained deacon and later a
minister at Christ Community Church in Newark.

A Calling Through Music

For a season, FireJaws stepped away from rap entirely.

In 1999, after a life-altering dream and a year of prayer and reflection, he returned
to music with a renewed mission. Since 2000, FireJaws has used hip hop strictly as a
platform for the Gospel—delivering scripture-rooted messages through aggressive flows,
intricate rhyme patterns, humor, and moments of emotional transparency.

Style & Influence

Influenced by elite lyricists such as Eminem, Tech N9ne, Royce da 5’9”, and Christian
rapper Bizzle, FireJaws’ style is built on hardcore lyricism rather than trends.

His goal is not entertainment alone—it’s impact. His music is designed to confront,
convict, and inspire, bringing the message of Christ into spaces where traditional
sermons rarely reach.

Beyond the Music

FireJaws’ testimony extends far beyond the booth. His faith has led him into real-world
ministry, prayer, and spiritual warfare experiences that continue to shape the
conviction behind every verse he writes.

The Mission

For FireJaws, hip hop is not a career move. It is a calling.
